August 7th rounded
up the last Golden Belt tournament of the year with team Dragons performing
great yet again.
Three of our members ended up as overall winners of their prospective
categories.
First of all the competition had to be run to find out who would win
their sections and go forward to fight for the coveted Golden belt.
The results for
the dragons at this tournament are as follows:
Nathan Coleman -145cm 1st (overall winner of section)
Gary Cain - 65kg 2nd
Peter Cook -75kg 3rd (overall winner of section)
Callum Thompson + 155cm 3rd
Tom Smart -155 cm 3rd
Louise Nelson (overall winner of section) did not fight at
this tournament
Apart from Louise, who unfortunately was on holiday the overall winners
had to then fight off for the Golden Belt. The juniors were up first
with the -145cm, -155cm and + 155cm fighting off in a round robin
in first fight Nathan took on the current -155cm world champion but
could not get past the skill and strength of his rival.
Nathan was then called up to fight against the + 155cm section winner
but we decided not to let him fight as he had already taken a knock,
and the size and age difference was too great.
Next up the Adults,
and with Pete Cook winning his section he was drawn against the section
winner of the - 80 kg. After a good hard battle he lost out to the
younger and much taller fighter - not a bad result for a fighter that
was possibly the eldest in the tournament.
