ENGLISH CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - Worcester, 24th June 2007

Team Dragon took 7 fighters to Worcester on 24th June, for the English Champion of Champions. The comp was packed with teams from all over and a large following from Wales.

Louise Nelson was first up in the Korean Pattern section taking a close 3rd place
First up in the point stop fighting was the Little pit bull Imogine Finch who has been only training 3 months she won her first 2 fights then just lost out to take a 3rd place.
Next up was Brother Lawrence Finch training for the same length of time Lawrence went one better winning 2nd place.
First big tournament for Joe Redman who was fighting in the intermediate class fighting well but missing out on a place this time.
Seasoned fighter Nathan Coleman was next up in the advanced section taking on every one in his stride to win the section.
The Light Continuous fighting was next with all the juniors in action again.
Imogine was again first up for the Dragons taking on a very good fighter from the Welsh team. Imogine showed the rest in her category why she's called "pitbull". She went on to beat all in front of her reaching the final. Imogine took this fight right to the wire with the result going to a draw for one ref, and a win to the other fighter giving Imogine a well deserved 2nd place.
Brother Lawrence was next and with a round robin. All 3 fighters won a fight each making it a 3 way draw and having to fight each other again. This time fitness proved to be the winner with Lawrence taking the 3rd place.
Joe Redman was next taking on a strong lad in his first continuous fight. Joe ran out of steam toward the end but did his self proud.
Nathan was last up for the juniors. Taking a few low kicks seemed to put him off his opponent taking the win and going on to the finale.
Team Dragon had 2 seasoned fighters up in the adult section with Louise Nelson up first against a fighter that had beaten her the last time they met. This time Louise took nothing to chance and ended the fight 7 points to 3. Louise went on to reach the final against a much bigger fighter from Wales. This was a class fight with the bell going for the end of the fight the result was 4-4 30 seconds added. Louise took the first point with the next point going to her opponent. At the end of the 30 seconds it was 6-6, again a draw, 1st point to score and both fighters scoring together and then her opponent scored taking the win with Louise taking 2nd place.
Gary Cain was last up for the Dragons with his first fight against a very good kicker gary countered and broke through with a well timed spin hook scoring 2 points. The end took Gary to a win by 3 points to 2. His next fight was against a class fighter from Wales. Gary used his movement well but ended up losing the fight by 2 points.

Pete's comments: With some of our other fighters resting up and some in a local competition, it was nice to see some new prospects having a go, every one did great on the day and i'm certain that the names above will be coming up quite a lot in the future.
WELL DONE ALL
