MAF-UK (Martial Arts Festival) was an impressive two-day event held in Leicester over the weekend. The Sunday saw a competition, and four Dragons were on hand to represent the UFBDA: Tom and Ben Smart, Callum Thompson and Louise Nelson.

Louise kept to her winning ways by notching up yet another win, as did brothers Ben and Tom Smart. Ben also took a third place in another section, whilst Callum Thompson won a second, just missing out on a 1st place.

All performed as normal and kept the Dragons flag flying for what looks like being yet another successful year.

Results as follows:

Tom Smart - 1st
Shown in his category performing drills consistently against all opponents.

Ben Smart - 2nd & 1st
Against fast opponents and reactions were key as well as a fast blitz. Good combinations used.

Callum Thompson - 2nd
Against class opponents all fast and with excellent timing, this was a good test for him.

Louise Nelson - 1st
Movement and combinations all sharp on the day.

Final analysis: everyone fought well to a high standard in this competition, and kept the Black Dragons flag flying well.
